Tribskin Pick’em: Taking Kaiser over Glendora; Calabasas over St. Francis and Arroyo over El Monte

Check out Bishop Amat’s Torreahno Sweet’s mid-season highlights

Records
Aram Tolegian Last week: 32-4; Season: 160-45
Fred Robledo Last week: 31-5; Season: 162-43
Last week: It was a good week for Aram and I, missing many of the same games. We both missed taking Duarte over Western Christian, La Canada over Rio Hondo Prep and, get this, Maranatha over Linfield Christian. We obviously didn’t do our homework because Linfield won 45-0. Aram picked up a game taking Damien over South Hills.

Prep Xtra Rewind: Highlights of how Charter Oak routed Glendora? Is Amat’s Torreahno Sweet leading player of the year chase?

The police didn’t think a Glendora fan waving a flag on the Charter Oak side was funny. Watch him get whisked away. But how serious was it? Could this be inciting a riot or kids being kids?

Charter Oak routs Central No. 1 Glendora 28-7; Bishop Amat crushes Notre Dame; Bonita wins Smudge

Bonita three-peats the Smudge: The Smudge Pot is staying put for another year. Bonita High School’s football team took advantage of some costly San Dimas special-teams miscues to post a 28-7 win over the rival Saints at Citrus College on Friday night. Bonita has won three straight in one of the area’s most-heated series.
Charter Oak routs Glendora: Mourning the loss of longtime coach Bud Reich, who passed away last Sunday, Charter Oak dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage and beat visiting Glendora 28-7 in a nonleague game on Friday night. The win gives the Chargers (4-1) the Mayor’s Trophy for the first time since 2012.
Sweet’s 252 yards pace Bishop Amat: Bishop Amat served notice to the rest of the Mission League that the Lancers are very serious in their quest to win the league title, demolishing visiting Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 56-7 in a league opener Friday night. Running back Torreahno Sweet led the way for Bishop Amat (4-1, 1-0). He had 15 carries for 252 yards and three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 59, 54 and 57 yards. He also ended up with three catches for 61 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown. Sweet sat out the entire fourth quarter.
West Covina knocks off Santa Fe: In a game that featured many big plays and droves of possessions, West Covina was able to get more done with its chances, and the Bulldogs beat Santa Fe 47-21 in a nonleague game Friday night at Pioneer High. West Covina (2-3) got important contributions from many players, including senior quarterback Aaron McCorkle, who threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns on 6-for-15 passing.

Friday’s results
Bishop Amat 56, Notre Dame 7 Isn’t this the way Corona Centennial and St. John Bosco beats Mission League teams?
Charter Oak 28, Glendora 7 Stunned with how easy Charter Oak made it looked. QB Kamden Brown with three TD passes and a rushing TD.
Bonita 28, San Dimas 7 Was tied 7-7 at the half, then Bearcats pulled away to win third straight Smudge Pot.
West Covina 47, Santa Fe 21 Bulldogs look great when they’re not playing heavyweights.
Rosemead 42, Mountain View 7 — Nothing like a Mission Valley league game to get a win.
Arroyo 47, South El Monte 0 — Knights have been a roll offensively and defensively.
Diamond Ranch 47, El Rancho 14 — Panthers are more convincing each week
Northview 56, La Sierra 28 — Vikings might roll through the Valle Vista
Monrovia 22, Los Altos 14 — Huge win for Monrovia, second straight loss for Conqs
Baldwin Park 21, Walnut 6 — Braves should roll through the Montview
Damien 41, South Hills 7 — Sparty finally flexes muscles; South Hills offense absolutely terrible.
Ganesha 37, Workman 13 — Long year gets longer for the Lobos
Diamond Bar 27, Cypress 13 — Great win following last week’s only loss.
El Monte 48, Marshall 8 — Lions’ defense helps make it an easy night.
Viewpoint 65, La Puente 19 — Not the smartest game for the Warriors to schedule.
Wilson 29, Keppel 0 — That’s how you schedule a win and get a good night of sleep.
Pomona 55, Montclair 21 — Defending champs up, down, and up again.
Nogales 34, Garey 7 –– Nobles showing again that they’re better than last year.
Hillcrest 24, Rowland 10 — Could be a long season in the Valle Vista too
