Thursday Recap: Bonita boys basketball stuns No. 1 Ayala, 81-80, in OT

Bonita 81, Ayala 80, OT The Bonita Bearcats were willing to take a two-point bucket. They had the ball with just seconds left, trailing Ayala by two points.
But the 3-pointer was there, and junior guard Joe Quintana delivered, knocking down the shot to give Bonita a heart-stopping overtime win over favored Ayala in the Palomares League finale for both teams.
The win gave the Bearcats (21-5, 9-1) a share of the league title with Ayala (23-3, 9-1), to whom they lost the first time 67-51.

San Dimas 53, Rowland 48 — Donnell Leffridge had 14 points and six rebounds, Ronny Rafeh added 12 points and had 14 rebounds and Andrew Sanchez scored 12 points for the Saints (20-6, 10-0) in a Valle Vista League game. Curtis Hong scored 18 points, Phillip Aguiniga added 12 points and Jonathan Hu had 11 points for Rowland (12-14, 5-5).
Wilson 71, Nogales 33 — Jared Chung had 10 points and four assists and Jared Kawamoto added 12 points to lead the Wildcats (15-11, 8-3) to second place in the Valle Vista League.
Diamond Bar 64, Glendora 32 — Malik Corey and Peter Valencia both scored 20 points for the Brahmas (8-18, 3-7) in a Palomares League win.
Girls basketball
St. Lucy’s 30, Los Osos 24 — Havalin Nyivih scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds for the Regents (15-10, 2-8) in a Baseline League victory.
Boys Soccer
Los Altos 1, Diamond Ranch 1:
The Los Altos boys soccer team earned the top seed from the Hacienda League for next week’s CIF-Southern Section Division 5 Playoffs.
The Conquerors scored first and held on through two overtimes for a 1-1 tie with defending league champion Diamond Ranch on Thursday night.
The Conquerors (14-6-2, 7-2-1) had the tiebreaker and needed only a tie to earn the top seed after the Panthers suffered an upset loss to Chino on Tuesday.
