Is Bishop Amat still the Valley’s best team? Starting with Charter Oak, but things could change when it’s time for final Fall Rankins

Hmmm? Young men hoping to go to the next level taking to Twitter. What could possibly go wrong? Scouts love young guys that use social media non-stop.

    • FredJ

Social media is the way of the world. They’re having fun, no big deal.

      • Valley Athletics

It’s no big deal if it’s done in a fun competive way like these kids .

        • reality

The problem is that these boys and others that use such public forums that go everywhere, have a tendency to magnify statements. They make them sound like they are above the team or the are the spokesperson of the whole team. “Too easy”. No Bueno

          • Valley Athletics

True .. Some tweets can be the difference of getting a scholarship or not .

          • FredJ

If you look at the tweets one is joking it’s too easy, other saying, yeah, easy for us. Most innocent thing ever. Just summer chatter.

          • Valley Athletics

            friwmdly tweets between friends .

          • FredJ

They’re super good kids that know each other and are having fun. Lighten up.

is Mr. Libero stating that CO would prevail over Amat in a head to head matchup?

  • Valley Athletics

I get the Amat ranking . Hard to think Amat will be good after losing a class that had 4 defensive players and 7 offensive players move on to the next level . Not including a couple who will be playing JUCO . There are some very talented kids coming up who will finally get there turn . Some good size on the trenches . A couple good Qbs battling for starting position , A group of talented running backs and a new group of skill position players from the class of 2017- 2019 ready to get there turn . I suggests Fred go to a practice next week to see what Amat gots before making any rankings .

      VA ,
What a lot people fail to remember , is in the blow out games last season , many of the young guys saw plenty of playing time which will benefit them this coming season . Looking forward to surprising the SGV with what Hags and crew put on the field. There is some very fine talent out there and they will be ready for a great season . GO AMAT !!!!!!!!!!!!

The non-league games for CO look fun- better than league. SH, Colony, NView, GHS, Damien. And like the old days, league title will come down to LA and CO IMHO.

    “Too easy”

Of course Northview is too easy. A player like you should be playing Mater Dei….not wasting your skills on schools like Northview. You will rack up great numbers against Northview and it will be EASY for you….and no one will care. No one will care because it will be “too easy.”

    “Too easy”

Of course Northview is too easy. A player like you should be playing Mater Dei….not wasting your skills on schools like Northview. You will rack up great numbers against Northview and it will be EASY for you….and no one will care. No one will care because it will be “too easy.” Since Hagerty took over Bishop Amat, that little school from La Puente has made the FRONT page of Maxpreps FOUR times…not one of those times was about playing or beating a school like Northview….They were from playing and beating high state and national ranked programs…the type of schools you should be playing against.

    • AMAT73

      OB ,
And your point is ??????????? AMAT is not for all players . Beside , magazine cover shots are nice , but a championship banner in the gym would be much nicer . I don’t think we hang magazine covers in the gym just yet !!! GO AMAT !!!!!!

    • SGV411

2 things OnBlue, I have always respected Amat as a football program, but at the same time cant stand them because of fans like you. What an idiotic post on Casteel from CO. Your killing this kid for getting a free education at CO and still balling over there. The kid got a full ride to Arizona and many other big time schools want him. That is more than I can say about your gutty little amat school this year. The funny thing is that St. John Bosco said the same thing last year about amat, “too easy” and that was with the best team you guys have had and will have in years. BTW: you guys get beat by public schools, Chino Hills and Corona Centennial. Come on man, your amat, lol. Too easy to write this. I can keep going on about your gutty little team, but why.

    • OnBLUE

I’m not the one that describe a game against Northview as “too easy.” Funny that no one came to Northview’s defense at this obvious insult the kid (Or myself LOL) threw. I simply stated that if he played at Bishop Amat, he would never describe anyone on Amat’s schedule as “too easy.” Division 1 players should play at Division 1 schools..simple concept, really.

And Maxpreps is THE premier high school sports website read by millions nationally and used by every coach, player, sports writer, etc. To make the front page of Maxpreps is a huge deal….especially considering there are approx. 37,000+ high schools in the country.

      • MoreKetchup

And what did those front page features get you guys, exactly?

    • Little guy football

Let’s see if Amat makes any headlines this season or anytime soon. Stop trying to include Amat in the conversation.

Castell will be the 3rd or 4th best player on the field when Northview and Charter Oak play week Zero and that is a Fact! Northview will be ready!

      • OnBLUE

That’s the beauty of Division 1 ball….you make headlines regardless because of the level of competition you face. Northview will more than likely get pummeled by Charger Oak…and no one outside the SGV will notice. Even if it’s a “close game” or “good game”…it’s all fishbowl and it ends at the fishbowl.

You’ll never see highlights or read a story in the LA Times or Maxpreps about Charter Oak vs. Northview, 2016.

        • Little guy football

Never say never, Sondeimer has given Comstock plenty of ink over the last couple years. Enjoy the D1 while u can before u slip to D2 and u won’t have anything to pump your chest about.

Meanwhile in the fish bowl don’t be surprised if Northview beats CO!

        • SMAK

LOL you will not here about or read about amat this year either no talent

Every couple of years we hear that Charter Oak has a better team than Amat, and, to be fair, every other year, Charter Oak wins a CIF championship, while Amat is sitting at home waiting for next year.
The only problem here is that when that sinario plays itself out a couple of years in a row (just as it might this year), we inevitably discover that CO, never really rises to all the hype Freddie and company give them.
When they went up to the next level, they got creamed. When they finally played Amat, they got hammered.
So, here we are once again saying CO is (once again), the best team in the fishbowl.
And….,,, to be fair, they’ll probably gave a better record than Amat will, and….. They’ll probably win another championship. But somehow, I wonder that even with this amazing talent that CO has, what the final score would be in the inevitable Anat victory ?
Incidentally, the Northview guy got it wrong here. This article isn’t about how much better Amat is than Northview, it’s about a kid saying that CO’s game against NV, is going to be easy. That being said, NV fan should be taking exception to the kid. Not the Amat bloggers, who BTW, quite often have a serious problem with thinking their poopy don’t smell.
Ugh…. Present company excluded of course
