Damien handles its business: Damien hasn’t made the CIF Southern Section playoffs or had a winning season since 2011, but the Spartans followed last week’s big victory over Chino with an equally impressive 30-22 victory over Glendora on Friday at Citrus College.
Damien junior quarterback Warren Bryan had another big night, completing 17 of 26 passes for 268 yards and a TD pass, and ran for two scores.

Charter Oak routs Colony: Charter Oak and Colony high schools have a combined eight CIF-SS titles between them.
By the end of the 2016 season another championship could be added to one of those schools in Division 4.
The top-ranked Chargers, with five titles, got the jump with a 63-10 thrashing of No. 3 Colony on Friday night at Charter Oak.Charter Oak (2-0) was led by quarterback Bret Clemetson with four touchdowns and 178 yards passing. The senior now has 10 TD passes through the first two games.

Bishop Amat bounces back with huge win over Servite: After giving up 63 points to Mater Dei last week, the Bishop Amat defense showed great resolve and character as they dominated Servite, while the offense made just enough plays late in the game to defeat the Friars’ 14-10 at Cerritos College.
The Lancers offense struggled, unable to score in their first ten possessions.
However, trailing 10-7 with just over six minutes remaining in the game, sophomore quarterback Blake Archuleta connected with Jarren Ford on an 8-yard touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone for the game-winning score.

West Covina no match for St. Francis As debuts go, Friday night couldn’t have been more impressive for St. Francis High School football team quarterback Michael Bonds.
The senior, who transferred in the offseason from Newport Harbor, threw four touchdowns to four different receivers, and also ran for one, in a 42-7 win over host West Covina.

South Hills holds on for win: South Hills got a huge game from its defense and came from behind to beat La Canada 12-9 on Friday night. The Huskies took the lead for good 10-9 on a 38-yard field goal by Justin Muniz with 6:34 left in the third quarter then held on for their first win of the season.
“We bent on defense,” Huskies coach Matt Bechtel said. “but we didn’t break. The defense kept us in the game long enough for us to take and eventually hold on.”
