SYKES, JACKSON LEAD SAN DIMAS TO EASY VICTORY
SAN DIMAS — There seems to be no stopping the San Dimas High School football team during the early part of the season.

The Saints continued their blitz to start 2016, earning their third consecutive blowout in as many games.
Jarell Sykes rushed for 155 yards and two scores and Daniel Jackson had 221 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns to lead host San Dimas to a 63-20 victory over Ontario on Thursday in a nonleague game.
Lyle Navarro also rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns for the Saints, who improved to 3-0. San Dimas, which rushed for 449 yards, opened the season with victories over Bonita (42-14) and Maranatha (55-14).
Aron Cook and Antoine Paul rushed for 226 and 145 yards, respectively, for the Jaguars, who slipped to 0-3.
The Saints put it away by halftime, scoring on five of their seven possessions.
San Dimas coach Mark Holman: “Offensively, we’re doing some good things. But we have to fix some things, or we’re going to run into some roadblocks.”
Daniel Jackson: “We just came out and executed. The coaches helped us prepare for this game.”

DEFENSE COMES UP BIG FOR EL MONTE IN WIN OVER AZUSA
GLENDORA — El Monte picked up its first win of the season by beating Azusa 21-7 in a nonleague game Thursday night at Citrus College.
The Lions defense dominated the line of scrimmage in the first half, holding the Aztecs to one first down and limiting them to 38 yards on the ground.
A short punt gave the Lions good field position on their second possession. They took the ball 38 yards in nine plays with quarterback Andrew Ramos scrambling 5 yards around left end for the score.
The Aztecs started moving the ball on their first possession of the second half, getting to the Lions 34-yard line when safety Saul Chavez stripped the ball from the receiver and Johnny Martinez fell on the loose ball.
Chavez capped a 10-play, 64-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Ramos.
The Lions turned the ball over to Devin Romero who just wore down the Aztecs defense.
El Monte had the ball 20 minutes and seven seconds in the second half and didn’t turn the ball over, keeping the Aztecs offense off the field.
He scored on a one-yard run to put the Lions up 21-0 before the Aztecs could get a late score.
Romero carried the ball 36 times for 111 yards to lead the Lions ground attack.
El Monte coach Eric MacIntyre: “I’m really happy about this. The defense played really well and we protected the ball tonight, which was huge.”
