Charter Oaks gets huge win, but it’s costly: Charter Oak High School’s football team stayed undefeated on Friday night, but at what price is the question.
The Chargers (4-0) lost senior quarterback Bret Clemetson to an apparent collarbone injury in the first half and may be without the budding star for some time. Charter Oak’s defense, though, had more than enough to post a 27-14 nonleague victory over Damien.
“I have really no comment, I don’t really even want to talk about it,” Charter Oak head coach Lou Farrar said after the game about Clemetson’s injury.

Short-handed Arroyo beats undefeated Rowland: The suspension Friday morning of four Arroyo High football players — highlighted by senior starting quarterback Jason Villa — could have easily given the Knights a tailor-made excuse to lose the game. But coach Jim Singiser would not have any of it. And his Knights rallied around sophomore quarterback Ernesto Camacho, who started the game and lead Arroyo to a 42-7 victory over visiting Rowland Friday night.
