Los Altos is a one trick pony but that one trick pony…aka Tyler Nevens rushed for 177 yards two years ago against Charter Oak and last season rushed for 225 yards. Those are just numbers of course but that shows me that Nevens will be the impact player he is expected to be. Last season LA lost to CO and the major reason was because they didnt have an answer to Zion Echols rushing for 150 yards and 4 TDs. This season though CO has been very successful they are a one trick pony as well. They have had only one game all year in which one player has rushed for more than 100 yards. They love to pass and have not established a run game. All in all it will be a great game to watch I only wish it was on fox sports west so more could enjoy a true high school football atmosphere.

CO is averaging 153 yards a game on the ground. So only having 1 guy with over 100 yards in 1 game tells me they spread the ball around to different backs, the qb’s run or they use a lot of end arounds.

If you look at max preps the stats are pretty much on point CO leads on passing and LA in rushing …but here is the thing LA can pass too…..so when CO stacks the box to stop nevens guess what LA don’t care because everyone has tried LA QB is second in the league in passing so blitz all night but we will pass on you.

That’s what I was getting at regarding CO not being as one dimensional as made out to be, same is true for LA. You might have an aspect of the game, in LA’s case, the running game, but you can’t discount that the passing is there to at least keep the defenses honest.

      You;ve GOT to be kidding…

      • LA Dad

I guess the One Trick pony for the night was the LA Defense that did not give up a score until the 4th and equaled CO’s points on the board.

Of course Nevens is their biggest weapon and they would be foolish to not use him. However, they do have several other more than capable weapons. Should be a good game Friday night…

An LA Helmet front and center would have been a nice touch.
