Bonita girls win thriller to capture Palomares title: Bonita stormed back from an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to knock off Diamond Bar 43-42 Thursday night and clinch its first Palomares League girls basketball championship.
The win guarantees the Bearcats (18-8, 8-2) a first-round home game next week in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs.Freshman Tiffany Hall hit a free throw with 46.5 seconds left in the game that proved to be the difference. She hit both free throws but the second was waved off because of a lane infraction.
“Tiffany came in and hit some free throws,” Bearcats coach Darren Baumunk said. “She also played some defense and did a good job in the game.”

Glendora 65, Claremont 43 — Karlee Fink scored 19 points, Michelle Can had 17 and Kyra Zovak had 11 for the Tartans (22-5, 7-3) in a Palomares League win.

Damien finishes regular season with victory over Etiwanda: Damien High coach Mike LeDuc kept it pretty basic Thursday night when asked about a pair of key runs that propelled his Spartans to a 73-60 victory over Etiwanda in a Baseline League boys basketball finale.
“These things aren’t complicated,” LeDuc said, smiling. “You have to play defense, make some good stops, rebound the ball and make your shots.”
Damien has done all of that and more this season. The second-place Spartans put a nice finishing touch on their regular season Thursday, using an 11-0 run to open the second quarter and a 9-0 stretch finishing off the third quarter to take out Etiwanda and improve their record to 25-3 overall and 8-2 in Baseline play.

Chino Hills finishes Baseline undefeated: It has been a whirlwind few days for the Chino Hills basketball team and sophomore point guard LaMelo Ball in particular.
Since scoring 92 points in Tuesday’s game, he has appeared everywhere from local television and radio news media to Good Morning America and ABC World News Tonight.
It hasn’t distracted him from his performance or the team’s as the Huskies wrapped up the regular season with a 105-70 Baseline League victory over host Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday night.
