SUPER SCHNEIDER: Dating back to its fall league, the South Hills High School baseball team hadn’t suffered a loss in almost four months. The Huskies had steamrolled through its nonleague schedule leading up to the Palomares League opener on Wednesday.
Unfortunately for visiting South Hills, it had to go up against Bonita ace, senior Nathan Schneider. He struck out nine and tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Bearcats to a 3-0 win.
“Schneider’s a good pitcher,” South Hills coach Darren Murphy said. “(He’s) one of the top two or three pitchers in the league, so we knew it was going to be a game where you had to take advantage of opportunities. We had one, maybe two opportunities and we didn’t take advantage of it.”
