Two-Minute Drill: Can Northview hang with Charter Oak after last year’s thumping?

Northview quarterback Steven Comstock explains why transferring to Charter Oak was not an option: Last December, less than a month after Northview’s 30-27 loss to Burbank in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 8 playoffs, quarterback Steven Comstock was hearing all the chatter.
There were rumors he would transfer to Charter Oak, where he spent some of his youth as a Chargers’ ball boy. There were friends he grew up with suggesting, hinting, even asking if he would “come home” and play his senior year with what appears to be a loaded Chargers’ team, one that could compete for a Division 3 title this fall.

Two-Minute Drill: Is La Salle, Arcadia a tossup?

Who will La Salle start at QB? The freshman or the soph? If La Salle High School football head coach Russell Gordon really does know who is starting quarterback is going to be for Friday’s season opener against Arcadia, he sure isn’t letting on about it.
Gordon maintained that he’s undecided between freshman C.J. Montes and sophomore Chris Wilson and likely won’t make a call for the next several days. But he is certain that both players will see time against the Apaches. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at La Salle High.
“At this point, I think they both didn’t do anything to lose the job,” Gordon said. “No decision has been made. We’re letting this week play itself out. I expect they’ll both get a lot of time on Friday night.”
