Buzz Aldrin in a role that may shock you
Press Release of the Day, from CBS:
"Killer Chat' – Don and Charlie try to catch a serial killer who is seeking revenge against Internet sexual predators who prey on young girls they meet in chat rooms, on NUMB3RS, Friday, Dec. 15 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. ...
"Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin guest-stars as himself."
What the press release doesn't say is whether Aldrin is the serial killer or one of the sexual predators. Either way, it's a lot more of an acting stretch than the bland sentence "Buzz Aldrin guest-stars as himself" would suggest. (Nor does the press release intimate why Aldrin - who, no doubt disappointingly, doesn't actually figure into the main plot - would want to lend his legend to such a lurid storyline.)
David Kronke was appointed Mayor of Television after a bloodless coup in 2000. Since then, he has improved infrastructure, championed greater educational opportunities and fought for reforms that have utterly erased corruption and incompetence from the television industry. Since Mr. Kronke has ascended to power, Television is a far better place.

This is a funny bit of stunt casting, without giving you any explanation. I can't figure how Buzz Aldrin would fit into such a story line. "We can put a man on the moon but we can't stop sexual predators?"

Actually, I know the answer to that one. Aldrin's in the secondary storyline that addresses Peter MacNicol's need to (temporarily) drop out of the story to fulfill his guest shots on "24." The producers have suspended his character, Larry, by sending him on a NASA mission. Hence, Buzz Aldrin guest-stars as himself.

Thanks for the buzz kill, Valerie. It was more fun to imagine him as a serial killer.
