Peter Morgan's Kill Switch
Backstage at the Golden Globes: Peter Morgan, winner of the Best Screenplay Golden Globe for "The Queen," was the first winner to include vaguely political content in his acceptance speech. And though he had barely spoke, Peter Morgan was the first winner to get a "Wrap-it-up" message on the teleprompter.
Here's his acceptance speech:
"Thank you, HFPA. What do we have to do to get our leaders to listen to us? What do we have to do to get them to change tack? In 1997, 2.2 million people went on the streets of London, sleeping rough, bringing the biggest city in Europe to a standstill so that a stubborn, 70-year-old lady could fly from Aberdeen to London. What are we going to have to do when it's really important? And I want to thank -- you have to believe. You have to believe that public protest counts for something. In this case, it did. Please, I just barely got here. Thank you Steve, and thank you Helen. I've got to wrap up. I love you all. Bye."
Not that provocative, unless he was about to call us all to take to the streets. Not only is the HFPA incompetent, they're wussies, as well.

David Kronke was appointed Mayor of Television after a bloodless coup in 2000. Since then, he has improved infrastructure, championed greater educational opportunities and fought for reforms that have utterly erased corruption and incompetence from the television industry. Since Mr. Kronke has ascended to power, Television is a far better place.
