"The Price is Right's" new burning issue: weed

| | Comments (0)

Just as Bob Barker espoused spaying and neutering pets, new “Price is Right” host Drew Carey has a pet issue, as well: medical marijuana.

In spots for Reason.tv, Carey, playing some sort of cross between a very chipper TV-news correspondent and your uncle who’s willing to share his primo stash, explains why The Man (the Federal government for you establishment types) needs to get off the backs of the 12 states that have legalized medical marijuana (you’d think the Federal government would have bigger fish to fry in the first place).

He enters a medical marijuana shop and takes in a deep breath. “Smell that smell? It’s the smell of freedom.” Taking in the array of items containing pot (brownies, ice cream), he says, “It’s pretty cool.” Oh, and then there’s some newsy stuff as well, with some patients explaining how the stuff was the only thing that relieved their pain after accidents, with a lot of kum-ba-ya, “pot-users-are-ordinary-people-too” stuff. It’s like he’s trying to explain the benefits of weed to extremely dim children.

CBS must be thrilled.

Mitt Romney has prepared his reasoned response, which he delivered to a guy in a wheelchair: Shut up and suffer or go to jail.
