Tuesday's tidbits

Cornerback Michael Norris returned to practice in a limited role, wearing a knee brace, and right now he is expected to be ready for Washington on Sept. 23. However, the news is not as good on receiver Joe Cowan. He said he continues to experience pain in his knee, and it could be a while before he is cleared to do any football activity. I think red-shirting will be an option, but he said at this point he hasn't even thought about it.
On another injury note, strong-side tackle Aleksey Lanis didn't do much because of knee tendenitis, but he thinks a couple days of rest will make it fine. He said he originally hurt it about two months ago when he was kicked, and aggravated it last week in practice when it was kicked again.
Most of practice centered around fundamentals, which is the usual during a bye week, but some time was spent on punt returns. You can read more about that in Wednesday's paper.

If the red zone problems continue, will we be seeing more of Chane Moline? I think we are going to need more of a straight ahead style on offense considering the lack of speed in the backfield.
