Twist, but no shout

Although UCLA ran for just 107 yards on 41 carries last week against Utah, Bruins offensive line coach Jim Colletto was pleased with how the young group – guard Chris Joseph and tackles Noah Sutherland and Aleksey Lanis combined for eight career starts – handled the adversity of facing a defensive front full of stunts.
“The biggest thing, I thought, was the poise they maintained on the field,’’ Colletto said. “There was not a lot of frustration. They came out of the game. They knew what was going on. A lot of times inexperienced guys don’t know that. It was really easy to deal with them on the sideline.’’

I usually get the opposing coach either Monday or Tuesday, depending when a conference call is done. To be honest, I shy away from quotes from head coaches because most of it is just rhetoric when discussing their opposition. As for the quarterback, I know that is a hot rumor, but I don't write rumors. Rice's practice was closed all week, including to the media, and when I checked with folks at Rice and asked them, I was told everyone was fine. I didn't write it because I do not deal in rumor, only fact.
