Dorrell comments
UCLA coach Karl Dorrell hasn't said much since the day of the UCLA-USC game, but during a conference call for the Emerald Bowl said a few things about the win.
“This year was a very important year, obviously, for one, for me, just to get that game to be a competitive game again,'' Dorrell said, "and then for our chance to win it, for ourselves to go in there and do a nice job and keep building on the successes we made this season, and to keep building this program.''
Dorrell was also asked about ending USC's seven-game winning streak in the series.
“I don’t really understand the significance of those streaks in terms of wins and losses, because I wasn’t really part of those, but I did understand the part that we’ve lost seven, it was time for us to get back to making this a very good series again, and that was really our focus, to go ahead and make sure that happened this year.''

Although Trojan and Bruin fans might not believe this, a competitive rivalry is good for both schools. Knowing that you have to be at your best to beat your cross-town neighbor breeds a high and sharp focus. And since it is the last game or almost the last game of the year (at least in football), the buildup and preparation helps the schools in their other games. Perhaps the rivalry has been restored in football (UCLA won the last game), and perhaps in basketball (SC split with UCLA last year, and the Trojans have some talented big people this year with O.J. Mayo coming in next year).

Give me a break John, USC's b-ball team is horrible. They weren't even invited to the NIT last year and they made the PAC 10 tourney only because all 10 teams went last year. They will get beat badly in b-ball both times this year. UCLA will own the Galen center.

SC basketball reminds me of UCLA football... whole lot a talk, an occasional win and forgettable season after forgettable season.

Being that I am a Florida Gator that just happened to stumble upon this blog, I would like to thank both UCLA and USC for having crappy basketball and football teams. We kicked UCLA's ass last year for a NC and thanks to their crappy football team beating USC we get to play for another NC this year. Face it, both your schools are shrouded in mediocrity!!

A whole lot of pressure went off CKD. We Bruin fans can now concentrate on FSU, recruiting and next season

Gator Guru - I assume you heard the crickets on your ridiculous post. You make a mockery of what was a great FL win last year (over our great school) and a big upset by UCLA, by acting like a USC fan.

When is the last time a Sally like this has come stumbling onto a L.A. blog? NEVER! This chump can’t say for one day he, like all the other Floridians, were the biggest Bruins football fans in the history of the program. Instead of being grateful for her team having a chance to play in the BCS, she drops the crappy football bomb. Hey Sally, it’s probably time for you to log on to a Michigan blog and dump on them for a while. What I’ve learned about Floridians, they don’t have a problem whining to get their way. Urban must have taken a few lessons from Mack Brown on BCS manipulation
You’re welcome you inconsiderate Sally boy
