McGee to Ole Miss

UCLA's Jeremy McGee will transfer to Ole Miss, where Ed Orgeron, the former USC assistant, coaches. McGee will finished his coursework at UCLA, then transfer. He must sit out a year due to transfer rules. McGee returned kicks for UCLA last year and was expected to battle for time as a receiver this year.

Jeremy Mcgee may have left UCLA because he did not know his place on this football team. He was recruited as a running back, moved to d-back, then wide receiver. If I left for work every morning, not knowing my job description, I'd look for another opportunity also.

Based solely on how many media quotes he had last season, the kid seemed to have a bit of an ego, and may have not wanted to compete for playing time. Being moved around is tough, but I think that is more a function of wanting playing time (moving to positions with less depth).

Jeremy perhaps wanted to be closer to home or nearer to his father. I am just guessing that maybe losing one parent last year would make him want to be that much closer to the surviving parent. At least close enough for the father to attend games and support his son. With Katrina and losing his mother, I'm sure the last two years have been very tough on McGee.

I doubt moving around the O or the D as a frosh even compares to what he has been through outside of football and UCLA. Good luck JMac and hope to be rooting for you at Ole Miss.
