Catching up with Fey
I ran into Michael Fey on campus and he caught me up on what his post-UCLA basketball life is like, and so I relay it to you. Many of you know he played in China last season for DongGuan, and he said it was a great experience. He said he was treated very well by the fans, and once he got over the culture shock he had a blast.
Fey said he was going to try and hook on with the Lakers summer league team in Las Vegas after the NBA draft, and while in Vegas attend a Korean league tryout. He said the Korean league pays more than China, but if things don't work out, he will return to China and play again. His salary was between $175,000 and $200,000. I talked to a few other folks about the level of play in China, and it was compared to playing at a mid-major college.

Not bad dough for a guy who couldn't get off the bench his senior year. You would have thought he might have had some resentment towards the school and Howland but it's good to hear he came by. How did he look?

There shouldn't be resentment, he was given lots of opportunities but he didnt perform. But damn, 175k-200k? Why the hell am I studying microbiology at UCLA instead of playing mid-major basketball and getting picked up by a Euro/Asia team? Some doctors dont make that much money...

Fey looked fine. The difference I noticed was how much more outgoing he was, and he seemed much more confident in himself.
