Tidbits
Bruins football coach Karl Dorrell is being inducted into the Helix High of La Mesa Hall of Fame tonight. Dorrell graduated from Helix High in 1982.
Also, I just got back from campus and Price High power forward Tyreese Breshers was there today. He was taking an unofficial visit and was being shown around by the coaching staff.

Brian, what's your take on Breshers ? Give us the lowdown.
Great honor for Coach Dorrell. It's my sincere hope that one day we can celebrate him going into the UCLA HOF. Sure I might be living in Fantasyland, but that is my wish. Hopefully with the full support of the Athletic Dept, Coach Dorrell can take the program to the next level.

Inglewood,
I couldn't agree more. No one is harder on Karl than myself. I too have rooted year after year for this coach to succeed. He has had good teams to succeed with and has yet to prove himself. I truly like the guy, and think he is an admirable guy with plenty of great qualities to teach young men.
Recruiting seems to be on the upswing.
By paying coaches more cash this year, it may keep the assistants hanging around a little longer. Props to Dan G for supporting the program financially. It was well overdue.
I’ve said it before and will be censored saying it again; any half-ass coach can be very successful if supported with a good AD, recruiters and coaching staff around him.
Unlike most passive Bruin fans, I want more than a Rose Bowl or beating SC, those are just speed bumps in the highway to a BCS Championship. This is the year, now lets get her done.
Root for Karl to get into the UCLA hall of fame, I’m still on board.
Brian, it’s good to have you back.

I'm on board depending on this year. He has to get it done this year. I am no fan of the WCO in college - too complex. Any offense that keeps your freshmen playmakers on the sidelines in favor of walk-ons because they don't know their routes, and these being intelligent UCLA players to boot, is not a good college O. Ty Willingham is evidence of the WCO in college - works 1 out of every 4 years.

Thanks 4 the info Brian. Reelbruin your comments are beyong stupid! Maybe you can give the coaches advice on your offensive philosophy. The West Coast offensive is one of the most popular offensive in the Pro's and college. Also, the best players play. Taylor is our best LB and a Walk on by the way. Playmakers aren't playmakers until they make plays. Players sit on the sideline because someone better than them is on the field. Reelbruin your comments would be perfect 4 the dumpdorrell website they love stupid comments like that.

I'm not sure what they will do with Breshers. UCLA is filling up its scholarship allotment for the 2008 class quickly, but that is subject to change if, as expected, Darren Collison and Kevin Love leave after the season. My bet is they hold off on Breshers for a while.
