If you care
UCLA announced today football training camp begins Aug. 6. It will be held at Spaulding Field, and I'm guessing it will be open to the public until they get into game prep mode in late August. Also, the school announced what was reported in today's paper, and that is Justin Brown is no longer with the football program. He was given his release in case he wants to transfer to another school. He also may just become a student at UCLA.

He Brian, what do you think about this?
If Deboskie reads this, he best come to UCLA

I don't really have an opinion on it. Recruiting, in so many ways, is so screwy that trying to get a read on anything is difficult. These are 17- and 18-year old kids being told how great they are by everyone who calls them. They are under a great deal of pressure, and no matter what happens, I'm never surprised. That said, I still think there is little chance at the moment Deboskie winds up in Westwood.

Brian,
I was thinking of going down to watch the fall camp for the first time. Do they start off in pads and contact drills on the very first day?

Any read on Ryan Bass coming to Westwood?

I've read some silly news about Deboskie being influenced about what's written on a blog and yet his name is completely off Scout's UCLA recruiting database. So maybe a lot of truth to what Brian has written. Stay tuned to "As the Deboskie turns...".
Out of state kids tend to string UCLA along. If they don't make some type of decision early, then it doesn't seem UCLA has done well. I would rather have UCLA keep on recruiting local kids very hard and especially staying on the commits.
Coleman, Dean, Carter and Franklin and possibly Milton Knox should be able to get the job done.
