A little more Locke
This was from Saturday's paper:
Jeff Locke, who is considered one of the best punters in the West, gave a non-binding
oral commitment to UCLA for the 2008 class Friday.
Locke averaged 43.3 yards per punt for Mountain Ridge High in Glendale, Ariz., as
a junior. Locke plans to red-shirt in 2008 and learn under current punter Aaron
Perez, then take over the duties in 2009.
“(UCLA) cares about the specialists. They care about them just like they’re anybody
else,’’ Locke said. “I saw (placekicker Justin) Medlock get drafted and (punter)
Chris Kluwe was there a few years ago, so that is important. I know that.’’
Locke was 7 of 11 on field goal attempts as a junior, and said he will also backup
Kai Forbath at UCLA. Among the schools he had offers from were Washington State,
Georgia Tech, Nebraska and Arizona State.
