Attorney comment

Statement from Eric Scott's lawyer, Milton Grimes: "From my preliminary investigation, it appears that a mistake was made by the Los Angeles Sheriff Deputies that should be cleared up within a few days. There is no evidence that any crime was committed by Eric Scott or anyone with him."

If Milton Grimes sounds familiar, it should. He was Justin Medlock's attorney.

I knew it had to be a misunderstanding,Eric Scott is loves UCLA and wouldnt do anything to damae its image.Remember Duke LAX.

I don't remember the Duke kids having priors. I agree that all the facts need to come out, but having felony convictions that your employer is unaware of doesn't exactly bode well does it?

Maybe ucla should just give up playing football?

Brian

The LA Times is reporting that a witness said Scott was actively involved in breaking into the house, and that the sheriff's deputies witnessed Scott carrying property from the house to the waiting car. That contradicts the report you got from sources in the administration. Also, you mentioned that UCLA was "surprised" by Scott's convictions. The LA Times is reporting that Dorrell made a statement that UCLA knew of his prior convictions before hiring him. So there is some confusion here.

Yes, defense counsel has made the definitive statement clarifying everything. We can all go home now.

Grimes is a university hired gun, he will at least get the charges knocked down

This should be a big boost for UCLA football recruiting. I think Dorrell meant something different when he told his coaching staff they were thinking about going to the run-and-gun this year.

Bruins, ignore the comments by Ex-sw and pillowbiter, don't turn this site into the swamp Wolfe's blog has become, in fact go on said blog and post "13-9" and watch the fools work themselves into a lather.

You mean ucla has "hired gun" attorney's on stand-by for incidents such as this?

Anonymous,
Misdemeanors are not felony convictions. Try again.

I guess Coach Scott is still growing up at age 32. His last arrest was in 2005, very recently. Its one thing if you get arrested at 18 and your record has been clean for over 10 years. But this guy has been arrested 4 times since 1994. Not a good sign. Irregardless of the final outcome in the courts for yesterday's arrest, Dorrell should have never hired this guy based on his recent arrest record. Just my two cents.

Scott has no felonies.

This is the kind of character Pete would love to put on staff for recruiting purposes. The Bruins should hold on to this guy just to keep him away from the pack of gangsters on Figueroa.

Everyone needs to lighten up. It’s not like Eric was arrested for lopping off his wife’s head or bet on games he fixed or mutilated dogs in a animal holocaust or got caught giving players blood doping transfusions. It was a simple breaking and entering grand theft. This sort of thing happens everyday in LA. Coach Scott will be on the sidelines opening game.
