Looking ahead
UCLA has a big-time recruiting class coming in after the commitment of Campbell Hall of Studio City guard Jrue Holiday, but it is impossible to tell what the 2008-09 Bruins will look like.
Already, I've heard point guard Darren Collison, power forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and wing Josh Shipp are likely to put their names into the NBA draft, with Collison the most likely to remain in it. Also, incoming freshman Kevin Love could be a one-and-done player, meaning UCLA could lose four players early.
That means UCLA's stellar recruiting class of Holiday, power forward Drew Gordon (Archbishop Mitty of San Jose) and guards Jerime Anderson (Canyon of Anaheim) and Malcolm Lee (North of Riverside) could each be forced into significant minutes as freshman.
The possible loss of four players, including two front-court players like Mbah a Moute and Love, is the reason UCLA may take a fifth player, a big man, in the recruiting class.
