Men's basketball makes hire
Note from The Associated Press:
Joe Hillock, the women’s coach at Southern Utah for 10 years, has
been hired as director of operations for the UCLA men’s basketball program.
“Joe brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program, and I’m very excited to
have him join our staff,” UCLA coach Ben Howland said in a statement issued Friday.
The 55-year-old Hillock replaces Chris Carlson, who was hired as men’s coach at UC San Diego
last month. Hillock is Southern Utah's winningest women's coach with 128 victories.
He coached the Thunderbirds from 1996-2006.
“I couldn't be more excited,” he said. “To be working with the staff that Coach Howland has
assembled and to be working for what I consider to be the best coach in college basketball
is an amazing opportunity for me."

Ben has formed a pretty solid staff with the additions of Hillock and Duncan after losing two assistants to HC positions elsewhere.
Hillock has that Willem Dafoe look. Should fit right in since James Franco attends UCLA.
