Bateman stuff

To say Crenshaw reciever Kamonte Bateman's commitment to UCLA is "iffy'' is a bit misleading, because there are other factors at work. If it was a simple yes-no choice, sources tell me Bateman would go to UCLA in a heartbeat.
However, Bateman needs to straight out his academics so he can be admitted to UCLA. Therefore, he is doing the smart thing and keeping other options open, just in case that does not happen. Arizona State was always his second choice, and will likely continue to be that way until it is determined whether or not he gets into UCLA.
By the way, UCLA did not practice today. The Bruins will practice Friday and Saturday, be off Sunday.

I'm guessing a small care package video games including Halo 3 is headed over to Bateman's house from Arizona.

What's particularly ironic is how many ASU players made the Pac 10 All Academic team last year: 2 first team O, 3 first team D, 1 ST, 2 second team, 2 HM. That is a total of 10 players. UCLA had 8. SC had 1.

Interesting stats Trey. I wonder what their class load looked like compared to the UCLA players???

Brian - I don't know where this fits, so I just put it here. Is there any type of "deadline" for the Brian Price situation in terms of this year? Does something happen if (heaven forbid) it is not cleared up before school starts? Thanks.

They can major in underwater basket-weaving over at ASU. It's a joke. Several "Jock" majors are available.

Basically ASU guarantees you will graduate by dumbing down certain majors for the jocks.

"I wonder what their class load looked like compared to the UCLA players???"

For one thing, almost every single one of them ("them" meaning the ASU students on the All-Academic Pac-10 honor roll) is a Marketing major. Of course, UCLA offers no such major. And I, personally, get suspicious when overwhelming proportions of revenue sport athletes at any given school are congregated into a single major. But it might be completely innocent, of course.
