Cowan, Ramirez and more

Bruins coach Karl Dorrell said Pat Cowan has a tear in his left hamstring, and he will miss at least "several weeks." It could be longer, so he won't be available for Stanford, which means McLeod Bethel-Thompson will be the backup. And it also means that WR Osaar Rasshan will be have a few packages put in, just in case he is needed in an emergency situation. Dorrell said Rasshan will remain at receiver.
By the way, Rasshan did not practice as he gets over concussive symptoms, but he could be back on the field by t he end of the week.
Also, Christian Ramirez talked and said he was excited about the move to tailback, and that it felt like "home.''
FB Michael Pitre was not at practice because he took his latest MRI to the doctor that performed the surgery on his knee. Pitre is still expected back at practice by the end of the week.
As if UCLA's running back depth wasn't in enough bad shape, walk-on Craig Sheppard did not practice. He had his right knee bandaged.

Brian, does it seem like UCLA is having more injuries in fall camp this year, than in past years? If so, what do you attribute that to? Thanks for answering our questions.

Heck no. 2005 was injury central with the whole d-line going down for the SEASON.

The injuries this year seem to be stuff that will be over with a few weeks rest.

Outside of Pitre no starter is out.

I think this camp has been relatively injury free. The two big ones are to Raymond Carter and Patrick Cowan, but some guys are being held out just to make sure they are healthy.
