More Walker
Arcadia receiver Kevin Walker said he knew it was time for him to commit while he was at a bbq hosted by UCLA commit Anthony Dye's father. A bunch of UCLA commits were there, "10 to 12 of them,'' Walker said, and after speaking with E.J. Woods and Dye, Walker said he felt the connection was right and he wanted to be part of that recruiting class.
He said even if his father, DeWayne, wasn't the defensive coordinator, he could see himself going to UCLA.
"I think I would still be there because UCLA is such a great school,'' Walker said. "Maybe if I wasn't in California it woudl be different, but I am in California and I love it here, and I have a lot of family here.''
As for what Kevan's commitment means to the future of his father remaining at UCLA, he said "you get a great education and it's a great place to go. If it means he stays longer, that's good.''

Brian, do you think he will play corner for his dad or at the reciever position? I know there is a lot of WR's in this class but that's exactly what ucla needs for the future with three guys leaving to graduation.

Rich Perelman over at What's Bruin has some exciting news about the progress that's taking place in Karl Dorrell's 5th year as head coach of the UCLA Bruins:
"We're learning how to practice well," he said. "That's big for us." He noted that even with so many veteran players, the pace of practice and the integration of the new players is always a challenge at the start of training camp.
We are so fortunate to have a head coach that has his team "learning how to practice well" in his 5th year at UCLA. Look out PAC 10, the Bruins now are practicing well!
These improved practices had better result in a conference championship and BCS appearance or Mr. Dorrell may be improving practices elsewhere.
Just noticed that DumpDorrell is all over this exciting announcement as well.
If Dorrell's statement wasn't so funny, I'd probably cry.

If the team is at 9-4 and goes to a mid-tier bowl Dorrell will be around next season. Hate to break it to you, but if the athletic department is happy to accept Eric Scott back into the fold (despite the black eye he gave the program), they will also accept continued mediocrity from Dorrell.
