Ship shape
Because UCLA is opening with a conference game, the Bruins will have only 64 players available. That is a a Pac-10 rule for non-rivalry conference games, but Bruins coach Karl Dorrell said he wasn't worried about fatigue and depth being an issue.
"It isn't a factor,'' Dorrell said. "We're in pretty good shape. Guys have done a great job in the offseason and they're in really good shape.''
Dorrell also has gone lighter on UCLA in practice the last few days.
"I'm freshening up their legs right now,'' Dorrell said. "You can tell these last couple days of practice we're getting sharper and sharper. All the hard work and running they did over the summer is really going to pay off for them now.''

Say, Brian, possible story idea:
BruinsNation.com has a story about U$C RB coach Todd McNair, who may have been arrested for DOGFIGHTING-related charges back in 1996.

Brian,
Is there a different rule for how many travel players for Pac-10 rivalry games?

In rivalry games, such as USC-UCLA or Oregon-Oregon State, a team can dress as many players as it wants.

This is pathetic.
After weeks of making excuses and down playing E. Scott's recent troubles & arrests you want to dig up something that may have occured 11 year ago? Eric Scott made his mistake while he was on staff in Westwood - that alone was the issue - not that he wasn't a perfect person.
I'm sure a large percentage of coaches have some "incidents" in their past that they would not like made public - after all they are from the same cloth that today's players are from and we all know that there are arrests just about every week.
What is the point of digging up this crap? Will it help ease the pain of another disappointing season? Does it make it easier to accept that your rival has had a great run, while your coach has squandered talent and underachieved?
Let the battle be on the field and leave the personal attacks for politics.
