PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Visting Corvallis

The only time UCLA coach Karl Dorrell was at a game in Corvallis, Ore., was when he was an offensive coordinator at Washington. This is the Bruins' first trip to Corvallis in Dorrell's five seasons as a coach. Dorrell said when he played at UCLA, the game with Oregon State was played in Portland.
"It's like most away games. It's exciting, and an unfamiliar place, people not cheering for you and all that stuff. I always liked opportunities like that to go and play, and go up there and get the job done. That's one of the goals we have to get done this week, go up and get the job done.''

interesting comment from a man who loses three quarters of the away games he coaches.

Brian,
so i'm guessing this will be your first trip to Corvallis too?

once you've returned, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the best home crowd is in the Pac-10 and why. My guess is it's Autzen, but wouldn't mind.

They should put a picture of KD next to the word "redundant" in the dictionary.
