PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

A little chin music?

Receiver Brandon Breazell has played well ever since those three root canals and various other dental work. He still wears a red jersey in practice, but he's not really playing in pain anymore. Breazell said ''it's been proven'' that he plays better when in pain.
Karl Dorrell joked about getting him knicked up again.
``You bet baby.I asked him about his mouth, and he said it's not sore anymore, so that concerns me,'' Dorrell said. ``When he's had a sore mouth, he's been playing his butt off. I said, do you need me to kind of hit him in the jaw? But he's had all that work in there, and I don't want to damage all that work that's been done.''
