PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Final ND practice

UCLA wrapped up its final practice before Notre Dame and coach Karl Dorrell was pleased.
"Our team is pretty focused,'' Dorrell said. "We want to get ourselves to the game, actually."
However, it doesn't appear TB Chris Markey will play. Markey did only light jogging on the side, and Dorrell termed Markey "unlikely" to play.
Meanwhile, WR Marcus Everett (ankle) should be available after missing the last two games, Dorrell said. LG Shannon Tevaga is expected to play, but Dorrell said Micah Reed would start.
Dorrell was vague in giving updates about DT Brigham Harwell (knee) and QB Patrick Cowan (knee), only saying it would be a few weeks before either could even consider coming back.
