On Markey
UCLA TB Chris Markey isn't expected to do much (if anything) during practice the next day or so, but I'm told UCLA, at this time, expects him to play against Notre Dame.
Markey took an injection at halftime Saturday at Oregon State to numb the pain in his right big toe. But one problem with doing such a thing, is while Markey played in the second half, he continued to do more damage to the toe, thus making the recovery time longer.

With a bye week coming next week, does the staff feel they can play Markey without too much consequence knowing he'll get 7-10 days to rest and mend the turf toe after Saturday? Hopefully Bell has 20+ carries in him to minimize the load for Markey.

I would like to see Ramirez get some touches this week if Markey needs to rest.

I also would also like to see Ramirez and Moline this week.
I still don't understand why Ramirez did not get any carries last week. Why not give him more game experience in the 4th qtr of a blowout? Why not rest Markey instead of potentially aggravating the injury? Now Markey may be limited and Ramirez missed out out on getting more carries under his belt.
I know, KD doesn't like to think about negative outcomes (such as injuries...so uncommon) so why plan for them?

Is Karl now Coach Kilmer? LOL! What does Chris "Wendell" Markey think?

I would love to provide you with what Markey thinks, but he is off limits to the media. Remember? Dorrell's new policy this year is if a player doesn't practice, he doesn't talk to the media.

I'm a team doctor on Friday Nights for High School Football. I see serious cases of turf-toe every few years and some of them can be serious enough to linger for a lifetime or end careers if not cared for properly. While I don't know how bad Markey's case is, as Brian pointed out, letting him play in the 2nd half may have set him back. Hopefully the 0-5 Irish don't pose any threats and Markey can take proper 2 weeks off. He needs lots of rest, anti-inflammatory meds, and physical therapy. Otherwise, he'll never sprint / cut properly until well healed. Bell can take those carries up the middle to run out the clock, right ? ugh, that was so ugly last year...
