Positive spin?
One thing UCLA was trying to spin after the loss was how the season is not over, especially since the Bruins sit atop the Pac-10.
"We're still in a pretty good position in Conference,'' UCLA coach Karl Dorrell said. "We have to evaluate where we are. We have issues at quarterback with Pat [Cowan]'s availability and how long Ben [Olson] is going to be out. Are we going to bring back Osaar Rasshan and the quarterback [Chris Forcier] we would like to redshirt?
"Those are some of the things we have to consider going forward. We have to get our health back and get ready to play a great Cal football team. We're in pretty good shape in conference. We have to get past this loss and find out how to be better in our conference."

Let's see what his spin on the situtation is in the next coming weeks. Their 3 remaining home games are all against Top 25 oponnents who have a combined record of 15-1 (with the 1 loss coming when 2 of the teams played each other). Good luck on that. The 3 road games are at SUC, Zona and Wazzu. How many of those are gimmees now? None. Wouldn't be surprised to see them lose all 3.

If both healthy, Cowan should start and stay. I can accept an INT once a game, but 5 is a bit much.
Olson may be a great talent, but not on this team or this offense. The Unstoppable Offense or WCO isn't for everyone.
The Bruins need a mobile QB because the line isn't dependable and the RBs couldn't pickup a blitz if an invite to the Playboy Mansion on all you can drink booze night was at stake.
Would be interesting to see Osaar out there. Maybe give him a limited package and have him run if nothing opens up.
Forcier? Forget it.

KD keeps talking about how the bruins are in good position in the pac 10. Come on! He has to see that this is not a good football team and has not played a decent team yet! This coach is so blind and cant see what he is leading. I'm sick of all the excuses. I live in Louisiana and am embarrassed to leave the house. We wasted our time and $$ going to the ND game last year, so we are staying put this year. No dissappointed trips out west in 07. Thanks for the enjoyable weekends KD.

Dorrell is worse than the Iraqi information minister. Bombs are raining down over his head, Westwood is burning, and all he can say is "We're still in a pretty good position in Conference." We are fighting over the dead corpse of a coach who is certainly finished at the end of this year.
Email Dan Guerrero dguerrero@athletics.ucla.edu to recommend that he replace Karl Dorrell immediately with an interim coach and restore competitiveness to this program.

Please, please, please dont burn Forcier's redshirt.

If you keep listening to the spin, Dorrell's expectations for the season are perpetually being downgraded to the point that we will be happy when we make it to the 'Vegas bowl at the end of the year and get whipped by a second-tier program.

This type of "head in the sand" rhetoric and coaching has created this train wreck season!
The worst is yet to come, but at least KD is done!

Is he serious? I know he's trying to keep the kids positive and focused, but how can he say we're in pretty good shape for anything other than a blood-letting? Tell them we need to regroup and refocus, but don't say we're in "pretty good shape for conference". If we can't beat a horrendous ND team at home, how does he possibly say that with a straight face? If we play like last night, we don't even sniff another TD this season, let alone a CHANCE at a win.

Chris Foster's story "UCLA could soon call Rasshan's number" is an eye-opener. It underscores Dorrell's incompetency. Down to Ben Olsen, Dorrell doesn't prepare Osaar Rasshan for possible emergency duty? They had a "package" ready for him weeks ago, but when Olson was knocked out of Saturday's game, they couldn't go to Rasshan because the package had "expired." The off coord should share blame. Surely he knew he'd be screwed if they had to rely on a walk on QB. Dorrell is in way over his head. Honestly, I want to be a glass half full guy, but I don't see the Bruins winning another game this season. Can we get Bill Cowher?

How can Dan Guerrero continue to support the most mediocre program in UCLA's arsenal? Admit the mistake and put DeWayne Walker in charge through the end of the season - then re-evaluate. KD has got to go.
