PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Post-practice Tuesday

Bruins coach Karl Dorrell said TB Chris Markey (turf toe) is 50-50 to play against the Irish, but a decision was not expected until later in the week. When I asked who would get Markey's carries, Dorrell said it was too early to tell.
LG Shannon Tevaga went through parts of practice, taking some reps with the second team. He said he expected to play, providing he doesn't have any setbacks with his knee.
DE Nikola Dragovic missed some of practice when his groin tightened up, but it's not expected to be serious.
FB Michael Pitre did not practice. He was experiencing soreness in his knee, but is expected to give it a try Wednesday.
Also, WR Marcus Everett (ankle) did some light running on the side. Dorrell told me Monday that Everett was less than a 50 percent chance he would play, and it still is that way.
