PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Taking ND seriously

Bruins CB Trey Brown said the way Notre Dame rallied to win last year's meeting should not be forgotten, and the way the Irish played in the second half of last week's loss to Purdue showed they are willing to play to the end.
"They could have simply went out of it and went home early,'' Brown said. "But they kept fighting and fighting and showed they were never going to give up. That was proven to us last year. That's exactly what they did to us. They've still got that same fight so they'll be ready to go, but so will we."

Totally different (inexperienced) team you're facing this year, and they're on the road. No leadership. Don't let it emerge against you this Saturday. Make Jimmy rue the day he signed with them and talked of winning 4 NC's. Do your part in assuring that Jimmy and the Fat-Bastard go 0-3 vs. Cali this year. Don't lose to them and make us come over here and post that 44-6 nonsense for the next couple years. Fight on!
