PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Chace-ing apprehension

UCLA freshman Chace Stanback played just three minutes against Oregon, mostly because he was so apprehensive when he got on the floor in the first half, according to coach Ben Howland
It should be a much less intimidating crowd tonight at lowly Oregon State, which could enable Stanback to play more minutes.

Stanback has not impressed me. He looks lost on the court and contributes little to this team. It suprises me that Howland recruited both he and Dragavic. Looks like UCLA has blown two spots on their roster and they have no big man coming next year to fill the middle. With Roll out, Luc being injury prone the past two seasons, the BRUINS will have trouble the rest of the year. Just watch this oregon st. game. Its gut wrenching how bad the BRUINS are playing. Please fill me in on Howlands offense. DC dibbles the shot clock down and the BRUINS throw up desparatin shots. No movement, no passing....they are so easy to defend. Its very disappointing...UCLA is not improving, they are stepping backwards.

Ok, shows you how much I know. Great second half for the BRUINS against the beavers. If UCLA ever needs a coach...ya better not call me!
