PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Westgate commits

Just got back in town from snowy Oregon and wanted to let you know Oak Park High linebacker Sean Westgate gave UCLA a non-binding oral commitment. I will have more in a little while.

good news, now that our coaching situation is set. can't be a whole lot that would make him change his mind... still cautious because of this whole offseason, but cautiously optimistic.

This is a defensive player so Walker wants him...Must be a good player.

Tubby420...

Is your post meant to imply that had it been Neuheisel that wanted Westgate, you would not be sold? But since you believe that Walker wants him, you are sold, sight unseen?

Is Walker truly infallible in your eyes?

C'mon Bobby, tubby wasn't saying that all all. That Walker is infallible.
Obviously, Walker's input carries a lot of weight. And past performance has indicated Walker has excellent judgement. And if his judgement isn't sound, then Neuheisel wouldn't have went to the lengths in getting Walker on board.
