PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Collison on Westbrook dunk

Darren Collison wasn't surprised with Russell Westbrook's dunk over Oregon's LeKendric Longmire. Asked what he saw on the play, Collison said:
``What didn't you see? He doest that every day. I think he's one of the most athletic if not the most athletic players in the country. I'm going to have fun watching that on youtube.''

ESPN was sure was giving Russell A LOT of love on that dunk over Longmire. They showed it from 3 different angles. Still amazes me how lightly recruited he was. He could be at Pepperdine right now or Fullerton or SDSU.

My bad. It was 4 different angles and RW's dunk made #1 for Plays of the Day.

Btw, hope Nike trots out new black unis for the remaining teams on the schedule.

UCLA 2
Nike Black Unis 0

That dunk was PURE EVIL.

If you freeze the video right at :39 seconds, you have you cover photo for the 2008-2009 basketball media guide. I think that would be a fitting response to Oregon's "taunt-gate" scandal this year.
