PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Finding some returners

UCLA has experience at placekicker (Kai Forbath) and punter (Aaron Perez), but coach Rick Neuheisel said he hopes someone steps up in the return game.
"We need a returner,'' Neuheisel said. "We need someone to flourish as a returner. It might be Courtney Viney."

I thought Terrance Austin did a good job on punt returns. Does this mean they are looking to replace him?

In my opinion, TA didn't do a good as a job as I or many had hoped. Hopefully he can focus on his route running and catching ability, and flourish there instead. Hopefully he can have a breakout season this year.

It might also be Milton Knox by Fall to flourish as our return man. He runs very similar like Mo Drew-Jones.

Brewinbob,
I concur with your assessment of Austin. He dropped at least 2-3 punts last year and had several drops at receiver. He needs major improvment at receiver to fulfill any of his 4 star hype

ouch. I guess the purge has begun.
