PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Latest on Luc

UCLA coach Ben Howland said he wasn't yet calling forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute probable for Sunday's game at USC, but today he did provide an update on the junior.
"He hasn't done any contact yet,'' Howland said. "All he's done the last two days is get treatment, and after practice he's come down and shot, and taken a couple hundred shots. Today, he's going to go through practice without any contact, which will only entail about half an hour. Hopefully, he'll get some shots up after practice, and then we'll see how he feels, relative to tomorrow's practice, whether he'll be able to do any practice."
So how did Mbah a Moute look?
"I haven't been watching him," Howland said, "but the assistants said he looks good, in terms of shooting. He shot the ball well."

Let's hope he can go - he's an important piece of the puzzle. However, if he is not ready it's worth it to keep him out. I know its $c but not having him in March would be much worse. Get well soon, Luc and GO BRUINS!!!
