PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Love happy with ``classy'' fans

I asked Kevin Love - who was targeted by the Oregon student section with ugly chants in Eugene - what his reaction was to UCLA's student section. Bruin fanas didn't retaliate in similar fashion at Pauley Pavilion. The school sent out a message to students earlier in the week, asking them to take the high road and represent the university well.
``We have a classy student section,'' Love said. ``We've got John Wooden sitting behind our bench. You're not going to say anything. You just be classy. You're representing him, UCLA and the school. We've got a good student body.''

I guess that doesn't apply to the "F... SC" chants. Not that SC is any better, but come on, lets not go so far as to call UCLA's student section classy. My brother heard every comment imaginable at the game at Pauley.

I think they are a 'classy' group, the only exception being against SC. But then SC isn't on their best behavior either.
