More Dean
Katy (Tex.) High running back Aundre Dean said he spoke with UCLA offensive coordinator Norm Chow and was told what type of offense the Bruins would run.
"Pro-style offense with (the quarterback) under center. Some West Coast Offense. Pretty much the same thing they’ve been running,'' Dean said. "They plan on throwing the ball to the running back a little more to get him in open space with the ball. They want to get the ball in their play-makers’ hands."
Before everyone freaks that it will similar to the offense run under former coach Karl Dorrell, I am told Chow's offense is much less complex, and looks to get the ball in the hands of the best players.
Dean said he believes he will play as a freshman, and said he decided to tell some local television stations in Houston on Thursday because he knew where he wanted to go.
"I had a home visit Thursday night with Louisville, and it was going to come down to UCLA and Louisville,'' Dean said. "After the home visit, there was no need to wait, really. I knew then. I was just waiting for that last visit to finish."
Aundre Dean sounds like a classy guy. This kind of character in a person goes a long way after football including his UCLA degree.
Aundre an incredible young man. UCLA is beyond lucky to have him. He was a strong leader, maybe THE leader, on a State Championship team full of leaders. He's a smart kid, he cares deeply about his family and friends and he's very excited to be going to UCLA. I hope that the Bruin Family loves him half as much as the Katy Tiger family does. Believe me, there are so many reasons to fall for the guy, from his stiff arm flinging down DB's to his care and support of the little kids in youth league football. He's special.
great note from tigerjag, thx!
separate issue: why did kd's o try to get the ball into the hands of the worst players? what is the strategic advantage of that?
or maybe every hc/oc tries to get the ball into the hands of the best players. the team that does it more wins the game.
what it boils down to is playcalling. surprise the other guy and get good enuff execution and you'll score pts...
