PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

More Knox

Birmingham High of Lake Balboa's Milton Knox said he is spending plenty of time trying to make a final decision, but may wait until Wednesday.
"Part of my family may not be very happy with me,'' the star running back said. "My family doesn't want me leaving (Southern California). They're not too happy. They didn't want me to go on the trip."
Sources close to Knox said they believed Knox would wind up at UCLA, but Notre Dame has become more of a player than even Knox thought it would be.

I was hoping he'd be our next Maurice Drew

It's too bad this is a no-contact time for the coaches. Otherwise I'd bet Rick would be on the phone, or visit him in person, to keep him in the fold.

I guess all we can do is cross our fingers and hope that this 17/18-year-old makes THE RIGHT DECISION.

Though I would love to have Knox but he is no where near the player that MD was or is. The speed difference alone sets them apart by a large margin. MD ran a 4.38 at the combine.

I'm looking forward to seeing Knox in a Bruin uniform next year. He has a chance to get a first rate education and be a part of something big on the field.

I'd love to have him, but ND is a great school, and could see why he would want to play there and go there.

I hope whatever decision he makes turns out for the best.
