PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Plans gone awry

So much for UCLA chartering to Pullman, Wash., to save all that time getting to Washington State. The Bruins were scheduled to leave campus at 12:30 p.m., but still have not arrived at the team hotel.
Snow is falling in Pullman and a spokesperson at the airport said UCLA's charter has not yet landed. There is a possibility UCLA could fly to Lewiston, Idaho, which is about 40 miles away, but the team would still have to bus to Pullman.
A person at the team hotel said the Bruins are not expected to arrive until late tonight.
