PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Rating the Pac

Yes, it is a biased opinion, but UCLA PG Darren Collison was asked his opinion about the Pac-10 conference.
"I think it's the best conference in the country,'' Collison said. "You look at the teams that are below .500, those are teams that can go to the Elite 8, Sweet 16 in the (NCAA) Tournament.
"Oregon is a very good team. I don't think anybody wants to play against them, even though they have a bad record. You look at 'SC, they beat us the first time. They have good players. Even the teams in the middle of the conference are real good."
