Davon Jefferson scored nine of USC's first 11 points to help the Trojans build a 34-28 halftime lead, but the big news is UCLA's Luc Richard Mbah a Moute is in the locker room with a left ankle or knee problem.
There is no official word from UCLA yet, but he needed to be helped from the court by teammates and was immediately taken into the locker room, where he was being examined by team physician Dr. Gerald Finerman.
UCLA led 7-4 with 15:55 to play in the opening half, but the Trojans went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good.
The Trojans' biggest lead was eight points, the last time being 32-24 with 1:57 remaining in the half after a pair of free throws from O.J. Mayo.
Russell Westbrook, Josh Shipp and Kevin Love each have six points for UCLA, which is 10 for 28 from the field, including 2 of 9 from 3-point range.
Jefferson has 12 points, and after a slow start, Mayo has eight points. The Trojans are 13 of 26 from the field.
