Fearin' the smack
UCLA played with more intensity on defense in the second half against USC, and operated more efficiently on offense in beating the Trojans. UCLA center Kevin Love said part of the reason was coach Ben Howland's halftime talk.
"He said if we don't pick it up, we're going to lose this game," Love said. "We knew with Luc out we needed to pick it up. We came out fired up because we didn't want to be in the summer, or after our season, and they're talking trash to us, and all that sort of stuff, or getting into that. We had to pick it up."
