Howland's humor
UCLA coach Ben Howland said he played Mississippi Valley State when he was the head coach at Pittsburgh. In discussing the Delta Devils, and noting they lost 71-26 to Pac-10 foe Washington State this season, Howland had a quick retort
"Washington State was not a good score for the opponent,'' he said with a chuckle. "Washington State played well. But we don't want to be the first team in the history of the tournament to lose to a No. 16 seed as a No. 1 seed, and that is going to happen."
