UCLA freshman center Kevin Love was named to the Sporting News All-American first team, and was a freshman all-American selection. Here is the release from the Sporting News:

Tyler Hansbrough Named Player of the Year
ST. LOUIS – Sporting News has released its 2007-2008 College Basketball awards and North Carolina center Tyler Hansbrough has been named Player of the Year. Hansbrough averaged 23.4 points per game for the # 1 ranked Tarheels. He is currently on pace to become the all-time leading scorer in UNC basketball history.
Freshman of the Year was awarded to Kansas State forward Michael Beasley. In 28 games, Beasley has been one of the most dominating players in the country, averaging 26.9 points and 12.6 rebounds per game.
Drake’s Keno Davis has been named Coach of the Year. In Davis’ first year with Drake, he was able to transform the Bulldogs from pretenders to serious contenders. Under tremendous leadership from Coach Davis, the Bulldogs, once predicted to finish at the bottom of the MVC, now sit amongst the Top 20 teams in college basketball.
Sporting News also announced its All-American first and second teams and its All-Freshman Team.
