PROFILE

This is Brian Dohn's fifth season covering UCLA after spending 4 1/2 years covering the Dodgers for the Daily News and other Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers. He graduated from Rutgers, where the first college football game was played in 1869. Sure, the Scarlet Knights suffered for a long time, but now RU is doing what Jerseyans always thought was possible. Winning at Rutgers also proves winning is possible everywhere else in the nation, so underachieving coaches better be careful. Now, if only men's hoops can turn it around.

Men's BB update

Not much came out of the press gathering today for men's basketball, other than the expected chatter that UCLA wants to win the Pac-10 tournament to solidify its hold on the No. 1 seed in the west for the NCAA Tournament.
Bruins coach Ben Howland lauded the play of power forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute as of late, but added, "I think he's played well for much of the year."
Players and Howland continued to say they had confidence in Josh Shipp returning to form. He is 8 for 47 from 3-point range in his last 10 games.
